Thomas Zraunig
21X AG
Group Chief Information Security Officer
Thomas Zraunig has over 15 years of experience in Information Security, IT Governance, and Risk Management, holding leadership roles in highly regulated environments. As Group CISO of 21X, he sets security strategy and governance across the group's European and US entities. In Europe, he leads Information Security, Privacy, and Outsourcing for the first EU-regulated exchange for digital assets under the DLT regime, with a strong focus on Web3 security as a core element of the business model. In the US, he is building the security and resilience framework for the group's broker-dealer and alternative trading system (ATS), aligned with SEC and FINRA requirements.
Previously, he held senior positions in Information Security and Risk Management at Vienna Insurance Group and other leading financial institutions, including Erste Bank, ING, and Western Union. His expertise spans security management, IT governance, third-party risk, and regulatory compliance on both sides of the Atlantic, ensuring security strategies align with business goals, regulatory mandates, and stakeholder expectations.
Independently of his role at 21X, Thomas advises with Dark Layer on personal security. Dark Layer works with family offices, entrepreneurs, and executives on the risks that follow them beyond the corporate perimeter: digital exposure and privacy, protection of digital assets, residential and travel security, reputation, and incident response.
